Turkish Businessperson Visa
The Turkish Businessperson Visa is for Turkish nationals over the age of 18 who either want to start a new business in the UK or come to the UK to help run an established business. Since 31 December 2020, the Turkish Businessperson Visa route is no acceptable for new applicants and UK Home Office will only be accepting extension applications from this date.
What is the Turkish Businessperson Visa?
The Turkish Businessperson Visa is for Turkish nationals over the age of 18 who either want to start a new business in the UK or come to the UK to help run an established business. The Turkish Businessperson Visa came from the ECAA Ankara Agreement, being a treaty signed between Turkey and the European Union. Following Brexit, the Ankara Agreement would no longer apply in the UK and therefore from 31 December 2020, only extension applications can be made under the Turkish Businessperson Visa route.
Requirements for a Turkish Businessperson Visa Extension application
In order to qualify for an extension on your Turkish Businessperson Visa, you will need to satisfy UK Visas and Immigration (UKVI) that:
- You have permission to stay in the UK as a Turkish Businessperson and have a valid Turkish Businessperson Visa;
- You have show you have not broken any immigration laws;
- You can keep running a viable business;
- You can keep being able to pay your share of the costs of running the business;
- You can show that your share of the profits continues to be enough to support you and your family without your needing to have another job; and
- If you are part of an existing partnership or company you will need to show that you still have an active part in running the business.
Can dependents join the Turkish Businessperson Visa holder?
Yes, dependents already in the UK on Turkish Businessperson Dependent Visa can apply to extend their visa in the UK. Only child dependents under the age of 21 who are not in the UK can also apply as dependents on your Turkish Businessperson Visa.
Is there a path to British Citizenship under the Turkish Businessperson Visa route?
Yes, after 5 years, you may be able to apply to settle permanently in the UK (also known as ‘indefinite leave to remain’). This gives you the right to live, work and study here for as long as you like, and apply for benefits if you’re eligible. After a further 1 year of holding indefinite leave to remain in the UK, you will be eligible to apply for British Citizenship in the UK.

THEY ARE EXCELLENT IMMIGRATION SOLICITORS AND BARRISTERS AND YOU RECEIVE THE VERY BEST SERVICE FROM THEM.
I instructed OneLaw Chambers to apply for my British citizenship application. I met Mr Aejaz Mussa who was very knowledgeable and explained the whole process for applying for British citizenship and I understood all the requirements. Mr Aejaz Mussa then submitted the application for me and the application was successful. I was very happy and over the moon that Mr Aejaz Mussa achieved a successful result for me and especially so quickly during the COVID 19 pandemic when I understand there are a lot of delays. I cannot recommend Mr Aejaz Mussa and OneLaw Chambers enough. They are excellent immigration solicitors and barristers and you receive the very best service from them. They should be very highly rated and I would give them more than just 5 stars if I could. Thank you OneLaw Chambers and Mr Aejaz Mussa for everything you have done for me.
