What is medical negligence?
Medical negligence, also known as clinical negligence, is when a medical professional makes a mistake when caring for a patient that makes an existing condition worse or caused an additional condition.
What types of medical negligence can I claim for?
Medical negligence is an umbrella term that encapsulates a wide range of
- Misdiagnoses or late diagnosis of cancer
- A&E medical negligence
- Amputation injuries
- Dispensing incorrect prescription drugs
- Childbirth injuries
- Adult brain injuries
- Injuries caused by lack of or poor nursing care
- Surgical negligence
- Improper application or failure to monitor anaesthesia
- Negligent medical advice
- Cosmetic or botox negligence
How do I make a medical negligence claim?
If you suspect you or your loved one may have been a victim of medical negligence you should act quickly to avoid having your claim time-barred. Victims have three years to bring a medical negligence claim against the medical professional starting from the date you first realised you were a victim of medical negligence. For children, the claim can be issued anytime before their 18th birthday, after that the normal 3-year rule applies so they have until their 21st birthday to bring the claim.
